Frequently Asked Questions
Q: I'm only available weekends and evenings.
A: You can still help. We serve meals at the Mission and do outreach to the homeless community in local parks on Saturdays. You can also bring dinner with you to our Women's Center on Sundays.
Q: I'd like to volunteer but I can only help out once a month.
A: You can still help. Perhaps you have a special skill that would enable you to lead a workshop. You could also serve meals, go on outreach or perhaps organize a group for a special project.
Q: I'd like to volunteer with my children; do you have anything we can do together?
A: Maybe. It will depend on the ages of your children, the number of children you have and what volunteer opportunity you are interested in doing. All of our facilities require that children be at least 14 years old or in grade nine.
Q: I am a sixteen year-old woman; how can I help?
A: While we do place limitations on single women volunteering in our facilities that house all male program residents, you can still help. Can you arrange for some friends to come with you? Also, since you are under 18, you would need your parent to cosign your application.
Q: I have physical limitations. Can I still volunteer?
A: Yes! We would have to ensure that the program site you serve at is able to accommodate your needs. Unfortunately not all of our sites are fully accessible.
