Church group serving as short-term service volunteers at The Bowery Mission

Volunteer groups from all over the country (and Canada!) have become a part of The Bowery Mission family—staying together on-site and joining the front lines of service to homeless and hungry New Yorkers.

For three to five nights, your group will stay at the historic flagship site of The Bowery Mission on Manhattan's Lower East Side. Daily activities include:

  • preparing and serving meals
  • leading chapel
  • processing and distributing donations
  • working in our food pantry
  • and more!
Short-term service volunteers tour New York City

Work ends at 4 pm each day, allowing you to explore New York City by night. Your accommodations on our 2nd and 3rd floors will allow you rest in time for the next day's activities.
