Counselor-in-Training Youth Development Program
Mont Lawn Camp's Counselor in Training program develops young men and women who have been campers at Mont Lawn Camp, stand out among their peers and become stronger Christian leaders.
At risk teenagers often have too few experiences that challenge and draw out their leadership capacity. They need caring adults who will invest in their lives and help them fulfill their potential. The Counselor In Training youth development program accomplishes this goal by helping committed 16-17 year olds discover themselves, others and God in new ways so as to better interact and follow God’s purpose for their lives.
Over the course of four weeks, Counselors in Training participants are developed to be future Mont Lawn Camp summer staff using team-building activities, in-depth Bible study, lifeguard training, and more. In their last week, participants serve as junior counselors at Mont Lawn Camp to directly apply what they have learned, and act as a role model for Mont Lawn campers who will become eligible for this youth development program.
At the end of their time in the Counselor in Training Program, campers are eligible to return as Mont Lawn Camp summer staff – even if they do not, they are better prepared fulfill God's purpose for their lives, and to meaningfully contribute to society as a whole.
