Leadership Hill Youth Program
Mont Lawn Camp's Leadership Hill program is an adventure-based, leadership development experience for at risk youth age 13-16 who have aged out of the Mont Lawn Camp program.
Leadership Hill is a leadership development experience that brings together 15-20 teenagers of the same gender to live in community for two-week sessions at Mont Lawn Camp. This youth program provides at risk teenagers with a summer alternative to cramped apartments, dangerous streets and a lack of educational programs.
Leadership Hill campers live in new cabins at Mont Lawn camp, which are complemented by a large pavilion – a meeting place to start each day, cook their own meals and have meaningful discussions. Campers take several excursions, including trips to local waterfalls, the Pocono Environmental Center, and a 3-day, 2-night canoe and hiking trip down the Delaware River. Leadership Hill helps at risk youth develop an entirely new confidence in themselves and in their peers by inviting them to explore, dream and discover opportunities too few of them are afforded in their impoverished neighborhoods.
In this context Leadership Hill helps at risk teenagers connect to God, a caring counselor, a positive peer group and a challenging, educational experience. All these elements are necessary to help youth become academically accomplished, morally grounded leaders in their schools, families and communities.
