Donate Food

Donate food to The Bowery MissionThanks to the generosity of individuals and corporate donors, The Bowery Mission serves over 1,000 meals every day to the homeless and poor in New York City. Last year, we also distributed 44,700 bags of groceries to neighbors struggling to make ends meet.

We gratefully accept donations Monday – Saturday, 7am – 7pm, at 227 Bowery in Manhattan.

If you would like to donate food, please consider that non-perishable, bulk and staple items (dry and canned) are best. We are usually able to accept prepared foods. Please note that prepared food must originate from NYC Health Department Certified/Insured kitchens or be fresh and completely sealed within original packaging. We cannot accept any food that is partially open or used to protect against potential contamination. Thank you for your cooperation.

If you drop off the item(s) in person, you will be given an in-kind gift receipt that describes the donation. If the value exceeds $500 and you claim the donation on your federal tax return, you may be required to file IRS Form 8283 and obtain an appraisal of the value.
