What is a donor-advised fund (DAF)?

A donor-advised fund (DAF) acts like a charitable savings account. With a DAF, you can make a charitable contribution, receive an immediate tax deduction and recommend grants to The Bowery Mission and other charities over time. You have full control over how much and how often your funds are granted, through one-time or recurring grants, allowing you to make immediate impact or plan for future charitable giving.

DAFs offer both immediate tax benefits and the assurance of a lasting philanthropic legacy. If you are interested in learning more about establishing a DAF, consult your financial advisor.

How do I make a gift using my DAF?

If you have an account at one of the DAF charitable sponsors, you can recommend a grant using our Federal EIN # #13-1617086 (Tax ID). A list of some common DAF sponsors, with direct links, is provided below.

Please request for your name and address to be included. Often gifts from donor-advised funds arrive without identifying information, so we recommend that you contact The Bowery Mission to inform us of your gift so we can record your gift and thank you for your generosity.

Event Gifts: Please note that while event tickets, tables and auction items cannot be purchased with donor-advised funds, donations in excess of the ticket or table price, which receive no benefits in return, can be made through a donor-advised fund.

Contact your donor-advised fund’s charitable sponsor now and recommend a grant be distributed to The Bowery Mission.
