2025 Summer Social

Thank You for a Special Night!
On July 22, our Associate Board hosted a fantastic Summer Social, packing out The Bowery Hotel for a memorable rooftop evening. Attendees connected with fellow young professionals dedicated to our mission, enjoyed music from a live DJ, captured moments in our photobooth, and competed for exclusive prizes in our lively raffle. Bex Schneider of XO Bex Studio also provided live watercolor portraits of guests.
The night was a resounding success, raising over $157,000 to support The Bowery Mission’s Compassionate Care programs. Attendees got a glimpse into the incredible impact on New York neighbors experiencing homelessness. Raffaele DePalma, our very own Executive Chef and Food Services Director, shared how God's love was instrumental in his transformation. Once a former client, he now manages all food-related services across The Bowery Mission, which provide 400,000 meals a year.
If you were unable to attend the Summer Social and would like to support these life-transforming programs, it’s not too late! You can still give.

The Bowery Mission's Impact & Chef Raffaele’s Story
Since the 1870s, The Bowery Mission has been a place of welcome, care and healing for New York neighbors. This event supports our emergency meal and shelter services, as well as our residential programs that provide individualized, holistic care for men and women so they can experience God’s love and heal from past trauma, overcome barriers to independence and achieve personal goals for life and work.
At this year’s event, we heard from our Chef Raffaele, a graduate of our residential programs who now leads our Food Services team. He came to The Bowery Mission after experiencing deep personal tragedy, which sent him into a pattern of addiction and eventually to prison. Learn more about his path to healing through the Mission — and how we extend that care to everyone who walks through our doors.
"My time at The Bowery Mission changed my life. I found myself and the plan that God has for me."
– Raffaele DePalma, Executive Chef of The Bowery Mission and Residential Programs Graduate

What is The Bowery Mission’s Associate Board?

The Bowery Mission’s Associate Board is a group of emerging leaders who dedicate their time, talents and resources to raise awareness and support for The Bowery Mission. Each member serves as a thoughtful advocate for the Mission and our programs as we seek to promote the flourishing of men and women overcoming homelessness and marginalization and empower children to thrive and succeed.
Our members get involved because they care deeply about issues relating to homelessness and desire to join a community of like-minded young New Yorkers who want to take action. With support from Bowery Mission leadership, Associate Board members harness the power of their own networks and become connected to resources that make tangible impact possible.
