Sustain & Grow
Transitional Housing & Alumni Programs at The Bowery Mission inspire graduates of our program to Sustain & Grow. Through transitional housing and ongoing access to services, graduates are equipped to find success beyond our Red Doors.
Transitional Housing gives our graduates more independence while they continue to have access to staff who help them continue to grow in their employment and obtain sustainable housing. We currently offer 8 beds for women and 10 beds for men who are transitioning to independent living.
Our Alumni Programs offer graduates the support they need as they continue their journey toward self-sufficiency, which can include:
- Vocational assistance
- Housing connections
- Recovery groups
- Social events and reunions
- Life skills classes
- Volunteer opportunities
- Counseling and case management
- Legal help
- Cultural events
Twice yearly, our alumni participate in a survey to determine their progress after they leave our programs. In our latest survey of 49 active alumni, we found that 67% are still working, 61% have sustainable housing and 79% have maintained sobriety.
Last Year, We Served:

of alumni are still working
of alumni have sustainable housing
of alumni have enough income to meet basic needs
of alumni have maintained sobriety
