The Bowery Mission’s Residential Program
More than just receiving services — pursuing goals
Our Residential Programs provide a caring and safe environment for adults in crisis to achieve personal goals for life and work, heal from past trauma, and overcome barriers to independent living.
A one-size-fits-all approach cannot meet the complex needs of New Yorkers experiencing homelessness. Each person needs a community who values their dreams and goals, understands their challenges and obstacles, and is committed to walking alongside them every step of the way — from homelessness to full recovery and independence. The Bowery Mission's approach is highly relational and individualized to each person’s needs. We address the needs of the whole person, providing customized activities and services within the context of a loving and supportive community.
On the journey to independence, we come alongside each client to create an individual action plan with specific, measurable goals for wellness, recovery, employment, housing, and more. Example tools for a client’s plan:
Counseling and Case Management
The cornerstone of our long-term Residential and Community Programs pairs individuals with a dedicated social worker or counselor.
Vocational Training
Offers individualized career plans and preparation to help clients overcome barriers and secure sustainable employment.
